THE MOST EXPENSIVE DOES NOT MEAN THE BEST-the results of the study confirm that the most expensive windows on the market reached just a very average results.
In a study conducted by the Building Research Institute, on behalf of the Association of the Employers' - Producers of Construction Materials, Drutex product obtained excellent results of the studied parameters.
The study was conducted in September and October this year on behalf of Association of the Employers' - Producers of Construction Materials, whose member as the only company in the woodwork industry, is the company OKNOPLAST. The study was to check the products of 13 selected manufacturers of windows. All products were purchased in the authorized points of sale of the manufacturers. The research aim was to check the balcony double-wing doors. The laboratory tested the air permeability, water-tightness and wind load resistance.
When it comes to the parameter of water-tightness- the Drutex’ windows turned out to be the most waterproof and achieved the outcome which amounts for 1050 Pa. Such results confirm the highest global quality of the product and uncompromising quality. Meanwhile, the most repeated value in that product category among the studied windows was 200 Pa (class 5A).
Similarly, the undoubted success of Drutex were the results of research on wind resistance. In this case, Drutex balcony window had again been classified among the leaders with a score of 1000 Pa, which confirms the excellent rigidity of the framework and the perfect quality of the reinforcements used. Please note that, it is generally accepted that the maximum acceptable relative front deflection of the most deformed part of balcony windows and doors should not be greater than 1 / 300 (in special cases, 1 / 200) of the length of this element.
The value of the air permeability parameter shall be the minimum amount of air required for ventilation of the space which amounts for the 0.3-1.0 m3. Thus, the higher class of air permeability, the tighter the window is. In this case the result obtained by Drutex product which classifies it in the class 4 means very high tightness of the window.
Meanwhile, it is important that the results achieved by the product of OKNOPLAST, who is a member of the above mentioned Association, turned out to be weaker and in any of the analyzed elements, such as air permeability, resistance to wind and water resistance are not classified as the best. Hence, one can easily come to the conclusion that the most expensive window does not show the best properties. The study clearly showed that the results differ significantly from the ideal product that Oknoplast promotes, which confirms also the author of the article on the portal oknotest.pl saying: "Committed and tested performance of the " revised ideal "are currently at such one should be afraid to think what did the ideal product technically meant before it was corrected" ideal ". At least we know where did so frank and open corporate slogan concerning the need for improvement come from."[1]
The initiative undertaken by the Association of the Employers' - Producers of Construction Materials concerning the study of the windows of few Polish producers is an important information for the customer, as it actually shows which products show best parameters, and thus ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction.
Although the aim of the study was right it was not carried out in accordance with the standards applicable in such studies conducted in a variety of certified institutes. Those standards require that the manufacturer's representative is present during this examination in order to prepare the product for a test. In addition, the complete report from the test has not been made public, and only selectively some elements of the above were disclosed by the above mentioned Association. However, despite the fact that the producers have not been invited for a study, the best windows have defended their above-average results.
